Cat Needs is a sculptor based in South London and a graduate of Camberwell College of Arts. Working primarily with clay, her practice explores personal narratives— combining her childhood experience with false memories and nostalgic emblems. Her work invites viewers into a dreamlike space where recollection becomes a tool for self healing.
She has been researching and writing about queer space for the past few years, specifically using queer theory to digest the interaction between queerness and art. The product of this research has been ‘Growing Sideways Projects’ - a FLINTA arts organisation which she co-runs with artist Jesse Buergel. Growing Sideways Projects creates oppertunities for upcoming FLINTA artists to exhibit work, fascilitate workshops and events, whilst connecting with the wider community.
